Starbucks Boycott
On my last day of orientation at Vanderbilt on Friday I parked at Starbucks across the street. I had got a cup of coffee and walked across the street to complete my orientation. While there, I met a guy that I really connected with and we talked about ministry and many different things. Toward the end of the day we decided to skip out on the last session and because he lives in Hermitage I told him I would give him a lift. When we got to Starbucks parking lot I quickly noticed that my Jeep was not there. I had been towed. Starbucks towed me. The cafe that takes so much of my money took even more. We had to catch a ride to the tow company and then I took him home. It cost me $65 to get my car out.
When I got home and told Katrina, she suggested that I boycott Starbucks $65 worth. At first I didn't think I had it in me, but after some thinking, I believe that is exactly what I need do. So, since Friday, I haven't touched Starbucks, a.k.a. St. Arbucks. The plan is to drink $65 worth of coffee somewhere else before going back. It is my small way of getting justice and vindication.
Question: Have any of you ever been towed? This was a first for me and I felt violated. If so, tell me your story.

I was towed in college at my own apartment! There were no spots left so I parked on a curb, with 2 of my wheels on it, so I wouldn't get in the way of traffic. I come out the next day and my car is gone! I thought it had been stolen at first! I contacted the apartment manager and he said I wasn't supposed to park there. So, I had to pay $65 also to get my beater Tercel back. Not happy times in Murfreesboro. I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm not alone!
ReplyDeletei have been towed also but even better i got a parking ticket once at my house when i lived by the golf course a few years ago!!! i was on 3rd shift and always parked on the side of the road during the day so amber could get out of the driveway (we had a single lane driveway). It was parked there during the day while noone was there. Needless to say, I sold that house 3 months later!!!
ReplyDeletesweet...a parking ticket at your own house. I don't think I can top that!
ReplyDeleteWell,......I have to say that I have never been towed, BUT, I have HAD someone towed....sorry, (wouldn't ya know?). In Tahoe, our house was right on the main drag. On the Fourth of July everyone came to town to see the fireworks. Most have the festivities started before I came home from work. So, I pulled into my little street right on the corner, and a big black Mercedes was in my driveway....parked right up to my front-door!! Humph! Well, he wasn't there long. I had him towed, so that I could pull into my house! We watched the festivities, etc. and then went to bed around 11 pm. The owner didn't show up until close to midnight looking for his car in my driveway!! I guess I was the "bad guy," but I wasn't going to let that one slide!
ReplyDeletei have been towed from a parking lot that was paid and from a grassy knoll that was not signed at all, which was right next to my
